The market has slipped deeper into the red this afternoon, with several stocks from healthcare, metal, captal goods, realty, energy and telecom sectors plunging sharply on sustained selling pressure. Weakness in global markets and likely probe against pharmaceutical companies for alleged price cartelization weigh on sentiment. The Sensex is now down 221.00 points or 0.81% at 27,209.20. The Nifty50 is down 77.90 points or 0.9% at 8407.05. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries is down 6.2%. Dr Reddy's Laboratories is down 5.6% and Lupin is trading lower by 4.4%. Cipla is down with a loss of 2.3%, while Aurobindo Pharma is declining 5.7%.
Coal India and Hero Motocorp are down 3.8% and 3.5%, respectively. Reliance Industries, Maruti Suzuki, Larsen & Toubro, Power Grid Corporation, State Bank of India, Bharti Airtel, GAIL India, HDFC and HDFC Bank are down 1% - 2.5%.
Bharti Infratel, Tata Power, Bank of Baroda, Hindalco, Eicher Motors, Grasim Industries, Bosch, BHEL, ACC, UltraTech Cement, Idea Cellular, Yes Bank, Kotak Bank, Tech Mahindra and Ambuja Cements are down 1% - 5%.
