Sensex rises 265 points during afternoon



Sensex rises 265 points during afternoon, Nifty up by 93 points
The market on Thursday opened on a positive note with BSE Sensex up 260 points or 1 percent above previous close, while Nifty was also in the green.
The Sensex on Wednesday recovered over 265 points as banking stocks rallied on expectations of increase in deposits after the higher value notes withdrawal by the Centre and also Republican Donald Trump winning the US election.
Sensex closed at 27,517.68, up 265.15 points, or 0.97 per cent, During Intra-day, it shuttled between 27,743.46 and 27,457.05.
Nifty ended the day at 8,525.75, a gain of 93.75 points, or 1.11 per cent after swinging between 8,598.45 and 8,510.70.
Stocks like PNB, Bank of India, SBI, Bank of Baroda, Yes Bank, Canara Bank, Federal Bank ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and HDFC Bank were the big gainers of the day.
The BSE small-cap rose 1.75 per cent and the mid-cap up 1.65 per cent.
