Live Stock Market Updates - Sensex, Nifty end in green ahead of US election

Some buying activity is seen in metal, media and private banks sectors, while pharma, FMCG, realty and IT is showing weakness on NSE. The INDIA VIX is up 2.55% at 16.9300.
Closing Bell:

Finally, the BSE Sensex ended with a gain of 132 points at 27,591. The BSE Sensex opened at 27,537 touched an intra-day high of 27,647 and low of 27,407.

The NSE Nifty closed with a gain of 47 points at 8,543. The NSE Nifty opened at 8,540 hitting a high of 8,559 and low of 8,480.

Live Market:
The domestic market extended their gains for a second straight session as the last of the opinion polls showed Hillary Clinton ahead of Donald Trump as Americans prepare to cast their ballots in the U.S. presidential election.  The BSE and NSE opened in green on Tuesday, tracking strength in the global markets as Americans go to vote to decide their next President.

At 2:13 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 27,473 up 14 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,504 up mere seven points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.02% at 12,917, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 0.04% at 13,026.

Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Auto, Dr Reddy's and Asian Paints are among the gainers, whereas ITC, HDFC, Adani Ports, L&T, HDFC Bank and M&M are losing sheen on NSE.

The INDIA VIX is up 2.55% at 16.9300. Out of 1,877 stocks traded on the NSE, 994 declined, 583 advanced and 300 remained unchanged today.

A total of 18 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while three stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

Adani Enterprises climbed 3% after the company announced its plans to form a joint venture with Elbit Incorporated to manufacturer unmanned aerial vehicles. The company will hold 51% stake in the joint venture, while the Israel-based firm will own the rest. The new venture will be called Adani-Elbit Adavanced Systems India Limited.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd is currently trading at Rs 142.6, up by Rs 3.45 or 2.48% from its previous closing of Rs 139.15 on the BSE. The company will announce its Q2 numbers today.

Tata Motors rallied 5.4% after broking firm Credit Suisse has raised its stock rating to outperform from neutral with a price target of Rs 720 over Rs 510 earlier. The stock is top Nifty gainer today.

ICICI Bank erased morning gains and now trading flat on the BSE. The bank reported net profit of Rs 3,102 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2016 against Rs 3,030 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

Varun Beverages shares got listed at Rs 430, a 3.37% discount to its issue price of Rs 445 apiece. The stock got listed on NSE at Rs 430 over Rs 445 IPO price. The stock is currently trading at Rs 452.35, up by Rs 7.35 or 1.65% from its previous closing of Rs 445 on the BSE.

ITC Ltd fell 1.5% after a three-day winning streak, among the top percentage losers on the NSE chart.

Crompton Greaves Ltd is currently trading at Rs 82.5, down by Rs 3.3 or 3.85% from its previous closing of Rs 85.8 on the BSE. The company announced that it has received a binding offer for acquisition of the Company's B2B Automation Business, comprising of ZIV Aplicaciones y Technologia, S.L., (Spain), its subsidiaries along with related automation business in UK, Ireland, France and India at an Enterprise Value of 120 million Euros from Riyadh headquartered, Alfanar.

Britannia Industries dropped 1.8% to Rs 3,241 on the BSE. The company  posted a 5.8% increase in its consolidated net profit at Rs 234 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2016 as compared to Rs 221 crore in the year-ago period.

Mindtree Ltd zoomed 2.7% to Rs 440 after huge block deal. Around 3.65 million or 2.18% stake of the company changed hands in a block deal.

Manali Petrochemical tanked 10.5% to Rs 37 after the company said its net profit fell 37% to Rs 10.39 crore in September quarter against Rs 16.6 crore a year ago. Its total income fell 18% to Rs 154 crore.

Future Retail dropped 2.8%. Future Retail said it has agreed to buy the retail business of Hyderabad-based Heritage Foods Ltd, promoted by the family members of Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, in an all-stock deal. Heritage Foods gained 1.7% on the BSE.

Ceat advanced 1.1% to Rs 1,234. The tyre company registered 1.6% rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 107 crore for the quarter ended September 30. It had posted a net profit of Rs 105 crore in the same quarter last fiscal.

Wipro is trading in red at Rs 450 on the BSE. The company on Monday announced the launch of its Open Banking API (Application Programming Interface) Platform. The Open API platform, will enable banks and financial institutions to launch Open Banking initiatives and create new forms of distribution channels and servicing capabilities, provide access to third-party application marketplaces, and comply with emerging regulatory norms through the standardisation of APIs.

Engineers India jumped 4% after the Board of Directors meeting of the Company will be held on November 16, to consider and approve Un-audited Financial Results of the Company for the second quarter ended on September 30, 2016. The EIL's Board of Directors may consider the Issue of Bonus Shares in the above said Board Meeting.

Indigo is trading marginally higher at Rs 928 on the BSE. The airline company will announce its Q2 numbers today.

The rupee opened at 66.72/$ as against the previous close of 66.73/$.
